R.I.P. Jeff Winfield of The Left Banke

Here is a vid (with SIMS) of my favorite Left Banke song “She May Call You Up Tonight” in honor of Jeff.

Left Banke guitarist Jeff Winfield died of pneumonia on June 11th. Winfield joined the group soon after its formation and after some adjustments in the lineup. He was brought on board to take over when guitarist George Cameron switched instruments and became the band’s drummer. While Winfield was only with The Left Banke for a short time in the mid-’60s, he played on the group’s biggest hits — “Walk Away Renee” and “Pretty Ballerina.”

  1. I had heard Jeff had passed and being his friend before the “Left Banke” my family and his family went away for summer vacation at a Bungalow Colony called Kappy’s not far from the site where Woodstock was held and we became close friends. Sorry Jeff, that we didn’t hook up more. You were a gentle soul.

  2. It came as a complete shock to learn that the Jeff Winfield I knew and worked with from IATSE Local 306 was a memeber ot the Left Banke……..simply amazing.

  3. Very sad to hear this. I have been hoping for years for a Left Banke reunion. They are as relevent today as they were way back when I was a teenager. There's Gonna Be a Storm is always close by my CD player.
    RIP Jeff.

  4. Thanks for remembering Jeff. I made 2 videos that have Jeff's character in it, Walk Away Renee and Evening Gown.
