Rants and Raves

The latest dust up in the war between artists and music fans…

It all started when NPR intern Emily White’s first-ever article about “I Never Owned Any Music To Begin With” was strongly responded to by Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven frontman David Lowery. Needless to say it began a viral war of words that’s being fought all over the social media-verse. This is also too big a subject for a simple post, so I made this page to post a few noteworthy responses.

One of my favorite new artists, Jeremy Messersmith was interviewed about it.

Music insider Bob Lefsetz added his two cents…

and also Wesley Verhoeve, founder of Family Records…

Jay Frank is the Owner and CEO of DigSin, a new singles-focused music company

And Lowery’s follow up interview on theawl.com

Between the articles and thousands of comments on each, you should have a good understanding of the issue.
