New Interviews: Curtains For You and Golden Bloom

I was so taken with the new album from Seattle band, Curtains For You – I got to interview both Matthew Gervias and Peter Fedofsky for Power Popaholic. You can click on the Artists Interview button or go to this link: Curtains For You interview. If you didn’t catch the album review you can find it here.

In my busy travels before IPO I got the chance to pose some questions to Shawn Fogel, aka Golden Bloom. He’s got some pretty interesting things on his mind and a great link to a funny concert mishap. Here is the direct link: Golden Bloom interview. Check out the album review here. I also updated a few interview pages from earlier this year, so you can now listen/read the interview with Ken Stringfellow (Posies).

Brian Ray. The Powerpopaholic Interview

One of the very first reviews on this blog, was for Brian Ray’s Mondo Magneto. This self described rock god, guitarist and bass player for Paul McCartney made some time to chat with me. His newest album This Way Up is scheduled for 2010 release. Brian has played with many other musical legends such as Bobby Pickett, Etta James, Smokey Robinson and, more recently, played on Chris Cornell’s solo album. If you’d like to read the interview it is posted on The Rock and Roll Report. Or you can listen here to the entire interview streaming (14 minutes).

Since he’s on the “new album” promo tour, he has put out a few YouTube videos which give you a few hints as to what it sounds like. Enjoy!

Josh Fix interviewed on Power Popaholic

Recently I got to talk with the talented Josh Fix. With his stunning debut last year, he’s caught the notice of many pop fans. And this year is no different, with an awesome EP follow up “This Town Is Starting To Make Me Angry” – Josh is hard at work on a new album. Click here to read the interview. Or you could click on the “Artist Interviews” button on the right. I’ve once again migrated the interviews section to a new server, so I could properly update photos and other things.

Ken Stringfellow interview transcript posted

Last week I interviewed Ken Stringfellow for The Rock and Roll Report. Please check out the site and read the full transcript of the interview.

In addition, an interview with Dennis Diken (Smithereens) is now posted on The Rock and Roll Report by Gary “Pig” Gold. These are two HOT artists that pop fans will definitely want to know more about.

Ken Stringfellow. The Power Popaholic Interview.

Not many artists are as versatile as Ken Stringfellow. Power pop fans will know him for his work in the Posies and The Orange Humble Band, his own solo projects and part of the revival of pop legend Big Star. I was thrilled to get to interview him. We talk about his move to Paris, his involvement with Cheap Star, his new band The Disciplines, and even touch on his appearance at the upcoming Charlotte Pop Fest later this week and his time with REM. The opening clip here is “Definite Door” from the album “Frosting On The Beater.” Listen to the entire interview streaming (21 minutes).

UPDATES: For those who would like to read a written transcript of my interview with Matthew Sweet, you can check it out on power pop reviews, power pop and rock and roll opinions. Power pop and even more power pop and rock and roll.
